What are signed applets?
The Java execution environment running inside your browser is limited in its ability to interact with your computer.
This limitation or "sandbox", as it is commonly called, is a security mechanism to protect your computer from being exposed to malicious software. We require you to relax some of the restrictions placed by the sandbox, specifically (and only) to provide the ability to do the following.
- Save your work on your computer
- Allow access to the clipboard so that you can copy and paste text and pictures from outside
- Allow the ability to connect to Flickr
